There’s something powerful that I have learned about overcoming challenges in my life that I felt, were under my control. I can channel the energy, belief and passion that I’ve gained from overcoming those challenges and am able to harness and direct towards those challenges I believed were outside of my control, that seemed too difficult or too big to fix. Wealth was clearly in that category.
Let’s go back to that day last March when I was running with my brother – unable to talk and run, breathless, feeling unfit and overweight and unable to keep up with my older brother. On that run he asked me another question. Have you ever had a proper assessment of your finances – how is your retirement provision looking? My heart sank and I did not have the guts to admit to him that my retirement provision was in a mess. He has just tuned 60, an architect who had designed and had built his dream home looking out to the beach (which he owns) on the Orkney Islands. Flying regularly to see one of his children in the States, enjoying time and money freedom. As we continued that tough run, I looked at my brother ahead of me and realised I just couldn’t keep up with him, either physically or financially or indeed socially as he had so much time to enjoy friends, family and just life. What a gut wrenching feeling when I considered the reality of my situation. I have run my own limited company in the Railway industry for over 25 years and it has been very successful however, since Covid and now with economic downturn, business is getting harder and harder and I find I am working harder and longer for less. And sadly I have not managed to adequately save for my retirement. I also thought about my father who worked the traditional 40 year plan to perfection. He had the same job his entire life, retired at 60 with a nice lump sum, bought a canal boat moved to a beautiful home in the country and enjoyed time and money freedom with my mother for the rest of his life. Me – approaching 60 with no prosect of retiring, a mortgage running until I am 68 due to failed property investments and the likelihood that I would have to keep on working until the day I die. How depressing! In that despair I considered that there was little I could do to change my retirement nightmare – there is no way I could save enough in a few years to properly retire. But in that moment I said to myself – what can you do? What is under your control? What can you do today that can improve your life? In that moment I determined to sort out my weight and fitness as I did have control over these. And as I have already shared, I won my victory in all those areas inside ONE year.
And now at last I have set myself on a course to sort out my financial nightmare. I have taken the energy of my success in health and fitness and am turning that same energy and determination to sort out my finances. I have set my course and determined that I will do something every single day to take me towards my goal of financial freedom. I started the programme on the 15th November 2023. I knew nothing about online business. I had puzzled for years how to make my Railway website more effective but without success. Yet with the promise from LaunchYou that if you follow the blueprint, you can prepare and launch your online business within 60-90days - I set out with the same attitude as I did with my fitness - of doing something every single day for a year – the power of a single day, to achieve anything in ONE year. Incidentally, I didn’t manage to launch my online business in 60-90days, I did it in 28days!
And the thing I have found is that daily action doing the right thing creates massive momentum in my business. I made my first sale 8 days after launch and in my first full month of trading I turned over $1000, in my second $2000 and my third $5000, in my 6th over $13,000. At the end of my year of transformation I'm turning over in excess of $10,000 every single month! I can genuinly say that I have replaced my failed 40 year retirement plan with a ONE year plan.
It is difficult for me to express how excited I am. Instead of waking at 4am most mornings terrified about my future, I now wake filled with excitement and a new sense of hope for my future. I have set my course to create a totally different future one I was faced with. Rather than slaving 8hours a day in my traditional business for many many years to come, my finances are being totally transformed inside a year through my online business. I really am a new man.
